Two Day Training Program on ToF-SIMS

We are thrilled to kick off the two-day hands-on training program on Time of Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) at SATHI IIT Kharagpur (May 28-29, 2026)!

Inaugural session began with a warm welcome from Prof. Rahul Mitra, Chairman, followed by an inspiring address from Prof. Rabibrata Mukherjee, Dean SRF and Founder Chairman of SATHI, who shared the rich history of the facility and encouraged everyone to actively engage in the sessions. Prof. Tapas Laha, Co-convener of the program and Prof. Debabrata Pradhan, Prof-in-Charge HRTEM was also present. echnical Session 1: Prof. Purushottam Chakraborty (Former Sr. Professor, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata) delivered a lucid, detailed presentation on the core science and applications of ToF-SIMS.
Technical Session 2: Dr. Gabriele Di Stadio (Scientist, ULVAC-PHI, Japan) walked us through fascinating real-world case studies.
Lab Session: Participants translated theory into practice with a hands-on live demo in the lab.
It is fantastic to see such active collaboration between academia and industry, with participants including research scholars from various IIT Kharagpur departments, scientists from CSIR-CGCRI (Kolkata), and professionals from TITAN Company Limited (Bengaluru).
